The gift of a mountain peak

From Chäserrugg, a panoramic ridge path leads to the highest Churfirsten, the Hinterrugg. An ideal destination to add a sporty aspect to your summit excursion and change your perspective of the Herzog & de Meuron summit building.

Climb the highest of the seven Churfirsten peaks via the connecting ridge from Chäserrugg - the Hinterrugg at 2,306 metres above sea level. The route there is challenging but extremely scenic and rewards you with impressive views of the surrounding mountains. Once you reach Hinterrugg, a breathtaking panorama opens up: deep below you lies the turquoise-coloured Lake Walen, while the vertical rock faces of the Churfirsten mountains impressively showcase the dramatic relief of this striking mountain range.

The summit building on the neighbouring Chäserrugg, designed by Herzog & de Meuron, can also be viewed from a completely new perspective from here. The unusual view not only reveals the harmonious integration of the architecture into the landscape, but also reveals how subtly the building blends into its natural surroundings. The Hinterrugg thus not only offers a special kind of alpine experience, but also a moment of peace and space - a place to pause and savour the beauty of the mountains of Eastern Switzerland with all your senses.

Sure-footedness is required to cross the connecting trail. In wet weather, the stone slabs can be slippery.
