Maintaining traditions and developing the culinary arts: in the Chäserrugg summit restaurant, healthy and tasty dishes are offered and classics are reinterpreted: for example, the traditional Schlorzifladen becomes an ice cream and the Wacholderlatwerge becomes a spread for Flammkuchen.

In Toggenburg, mountain traditions are strongly rooted: through an interesting dialogue with those involved in farming, tourism promotes identity and mutual understanding without pushing agriculture away from the alpine pastures. During a hike you will meet curious cows enjoying their summer retreat on the alp and with a bit of luck you will hear an authentic natural yodel of the alpine dairymen at work. Feel the difference between lived customs and staged folklore! We invite you to attend an alpine drive, experience an alpine blessing or take part in a mountain service.

We are happy to organise an introduction to living customs for your group with a natural yodelling starter course. This is a unique opportunity to discover the joy of singing together and to help shape and continue the musical tradition in Toggenburg.

Enjoy the wonderful alpine garden on the Rosenboden plateau: At over 2,200 m above sea level, a variety of unexpected flowers grow, which set off a colourful firework display after the snow season. With a bit of luck, you will experience a visit from a colony of ibex during the hike. Even from the train cabin you can observe the geological rock formations, witnesses to the forces that gave rise to the Alpine chain. Nimble chamois greet you from the flanks of the Chäserrugg.
