"The Long Run": Your endurance training on the Chäserrugg
Downhill Tip of the Week
Over a distance of 8.5 kilometres, the downhill run "the Long Run" challenges your fitness and at the same time rewards you with a unique view of the Alpstein, the Rhine Valley and the Toggenburg.
The relaxing and panoramic start over the broad ridge of the Chäserrugg is optimal for warming up and getting into the swing of things for the descent. After the following sporty section, "the Long Run" takes you past the Stöfeli mountain inn and you ride on the forest slope through the "Schwiloch" in the direction of Alp Sellamatt. Here follows a short section that lets you catch your breath and scores with an incredible view of the striking Churfirsten peaks. The last part of the route is the snow-sure valley descent over varied terrain to the village of Alt St. Johann. From the summit to the valley you have now covered 1,400 metres in altitude, trained your endurance and thus actively recovered.
