The Morning Route
Climb the Chäserrugg in the morning light on the sporty hike ‘The morning route’. On this mountain hike in Toggenburg, you will experience extremely diverse mountain nature and, with a bit of luck, you may spot ibex on the rock faces of the eastern descent on the last section of the hike.
In the light of the morning sun, you hike from Iltios in the direction of Stöfeli and then over the Surenboden to Hinterrisi, where you are already on the route of the famous eastern run. Now the varied trail leads you along the impressive mountain flanks, high up at 1,900 metres above sea level to Alp Plisa. Here a plain with a fascinating karst landscape opens up before you. You cross this on the marked paths, past deep karst holes and crevices, the remarkable highlights of this hiking route.
You now reach the last part of the ascent via the saddle, an impressive scree field. With a bit of luck, you will come across the ibex colony here, which likes to retreat into the rocky walls and enjoy the shade. After the scree field, your destination, the Herzog & de Meuron summit building, is already in sight and you only have a short distance to go before you can indulge in culinary delights at the summit restaurant.
