The Athletic Trail
Summit hike in eastern Switzerland: from Alp Sellamatt, the trail leads over the Hinterrugg to the Chäserrugg - with impressive views of Lake Walen and the Churfirsten peaks. A sporty high-altitude trail for all those who love sporty hiking with panoramic views.

After hiking from Alp Sellamatt to Zinggen, take the direct access to the steep forest path to Oberruestel and follow it over the saddle. The Schäferhütte hut with its fantastic view of the ‘Chammere’ and the Gluristal valley is perfect for a short breather. You then reach the Hinterrugg, the highest of the seven Churfirsten peaks, via the hiking trail. From here you have a breathtaking view of the steep rock faces of the Churfirsten all the way down to Lake Walen.
A few steps along the connecting ridge will take you to Chäserrugg, where you will be greeted by a sophisticated restaurant in the Herzog & de Meuron summit building.
